Friends on film.
San Diego Zoo Trip!
I have a secret dream to be a National Geographic photographer/film maker and travel the world. So, when two of my good friends asked me to go to the famous San Diego Zoo- I was ready with my camera in hand. Although seeing these amazing creatures in cages makes me sad, it's great what the people at the San Diego Zoo do for these animals to have great lives. Also, the plant life is incredible at this zoo. My friends were making fun of me for nerding out at the prehistoric foliage when there were so many endangered animals so close. Oh well=)
Old Ricohflex Camera, medium format film.
I didn’t really know if this camera worked…so getting these images back was pretty magical.
The photo above is of my sweet kitty Luke who passed away recently…see a few more images of him here.
The photo below is a double exposure from Nina+Scott’s wedding in San Luis Obispo…

Happy New Year!
“Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts.
Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts.
Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me...
Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.”
-Shel Silverstein
I will have lots of new photos for you in January! Enjoy the last few days of the year!

Seattle trip and real things.
Hey Friends! So some of you know already that Nick and I decided to end our relationship a while ago...and I had so many sweet emails from clients and friends asking if we were alright that I didn't get to respond to. I just wanted to say that we are both so happy, and truly have not felt more hopeful and focused. Nick and I were good as a couple, really good as friends, but really really ridiculously great as business and shooting partners, so we decided to take the best parts and keep them in good working order. We have had a pretty sweet deal worked out for a while with Nick in charge of {some of his many} brilliant areas, and me in charge of the rest- just the way this Libra likes it!! Since he has a day job as a web guru and this IS my day job, it seems to balance well. I am totally overwhelmed by the good things that has been coming up the past few months, so thanks to good thought thinkers and the universe for that. Sorry for the long rant and the venting...now here are some photos from a Seattle trip that we went on a while back that I have been saving for this very post.
We stayed at The Ace Hotel...there are no words to describe the charm of that place- not to mention the amazing coffee!
San Luis Obispo Wedding this weekend!
I will be shooting Lindsey and Jacob's lovely wedding in San Luis Obispo {technically, Arroyo Grande} this weekend. Since Nick will be staying in San Diego to document another last minute wedding, I have the great luck that the amazing Kameron Ahler is available and coming to help me shoot! He has such a great eye, and I can not wait to see what he ends up with. Here are some of Kam's awesome photos that he took for our website=)
New York + color film
I love the blue sky and dreamy greens of Rochester in the Summer.
My friend Matt, who is an amazing New York photographer=)
moment soaking.
I had dinner with an amazingly strong lady last night who's younger brother died in Auschwitz at the age of 19. I listened quietly, ate my matzo ball soup, and watched as the tears welled up in her eyes {but never spilled over.} Hearing such a personal and painful story from someone so tiny and fragile made every stress and worry disappear in my mind for those few minutes. I am reminded that the little things that worry us, are just that-little. The big things in life- the people that influence us, how much we enjoy each moment (even the painful ones,) and the strength we give to the memories of people who aren't with us anymore, are the things that we should be focusing that "worry" energy on. I am so humbled by that sweet lady, and I will continue to think of her beloved little brother who didn't get the chance to live a full life. The good news? Maybe his story will inspire us to not take anything or anyone for granted, to appreciate and soak up each moment as it passes, and to just let the little worries go. Since this was a little on the sad side, and because no post is complete without a photo, here is one that makes me smile and feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
New York state of mind.
I decided to leave you with some holga photos to look at while I am gone. I love the weirdness of this camera=)
Oscar and an overlapped image of my dad shooting in college…one of my favorites.
Celina+TJ…light leaked and weird color…but I kinda like this one.
My lovely friend Heather found this duck wall in North Park…so cute!
Have a good weekend!
My Dad is the greatest.
I want to wish my sweet Dad a happy fathers day-he is pretty much the best ever. I grew up getting handwritten notes in my lunch, Beatles and Talking Heads sung to me over and over, and frisbee catches all over the place. There is no one in the world who's opinion I value over his, and I am SO LUCKY to have the crazy, odd, creative, enlightened, open-minded, and FUN Dad that I do. HAPPY FATHERS DAY FACCIA!
I took this photo of my Dad when I was four while in New York visiting my Grandparents. I am sure my Dad (who is an amazing photographer with an unbelievable eye) set the camera, composed, and focused the shot...but this is my first documented photo ever, and I love it!
New Blog!
Dear lovely Reader, Welcome to the new home of our blog! Check out the new site too and leave us some comments or love notes if you have any=) Oh, and another exciting thing...we are moving into our new live/work studio (with an amazing client meeting room and shooting space with lovely light) in just a few weeks, so BIG THINGS are happening and we couldn't be more excited! Thanks for checking out the new stuff friends (yes, I am entirely aware that my Dad and Grandma might be the only ones reading this but oh well... hey guys!)
I have a lot in mind for this little blog so come back to see me, and I promise to show you photos of squishy babies, happy drooling animals, and people so in love it's disgusting. K? K. =)
